are we all MADD?!?!

MADD...?! pfsd!

Mothers Against Drunk Drivers is a negative connotation. The whole organization is built on what they are against, instead of what they support. MADD implies there will always be drunk drivers, and that the organizations job is to try to stop them. Why not, “Peoples For Sober Drivers?” PFSD! It’s a positive reinforcement, sober driving.

Similar to why in a fire drill we say, “Please walk” instead of “Don’t run.” When you hear “Don’t Run,”  you think, what don’t you want me to do, run? Ok, now I have the choice to run, should I run or should I not? The problem is that run is the focus. But if you hear, “Please walk,” you think, walk or not walk. Walk is the heart of the message.

Make sober the heart of the message. Be positive.

We use the same positive approach for wommp. Without going into detail, people can only wommp (choose/vote for) what they like. If they don’t like something on wommp, they don’t wommp it.  Once choice simplifies the decision. Other networks are too complex. Some try to determine preferences by asking too many questions: do you like it, do you not like it, are you in the middle, etc...? We have all seen the thumbs up and thumbs down system. What is the purpose of the thumbs down? Clearly if you don’t like something, by default, you dislike it.

Google also uses positive reinforcement to determine the content it delivers. Their system is based on the number and relevance of the links are associated with a website, as opposed to that plus how many links are not associated with the website. They don’t need both. It seems obvious. But it’s as redundant for Google as it is for the rest of us.

If you have two keys, and you put a yellow ring on one key, you don’t need a blue ring on the other key, as one is “yellow,” and one is “not yellow.”

wommp focuses on the positive. People wommp what they like, and show their interest in the rest by not wommping. It’s easy. Let’s all focus on the positive. After all, there are too many decisions that need our time, why focus on redundant, negative ones?
